Do not Hire

Called July 25 2025 and made an appointment to be moved on a Friday August 22 2025 at 8:00 am. The owner Chris was helpful and a price was negotiated. He then demanded that he be paid by Venmo. As I do not use the app he was able to set up a credit card acceptance link through his bank. Monies were paid in full at that time for a 3 (Minimum) hour move.

At 8:00 am the allotted time for the move I received a call from a gentleman stating that he was the employee charged with the moving task and he was not showing up due to the fact that Chris's employees had walked due to not being paid for their work and overall bad treatment by Chris. I tried contacting Chris at the phone numbers previously used with no answer. Finally I called one of the out of state numbers that was advertised on the website and Chris answered. I demanded an explanation and stated that we had a contract.

He immediately got defensive and very rude stating that I was not going to have service that day due to my attitude. The ending note of Chris along with many expletives, stating good luck getting your money back. Do not use this company! I will be contacting the BBB and have already left a message with the CT Attorney Generals office. Moving is stressful enough without having to compound issues by hiring a disreputable company. After looking at his replies to other bad reviews be assured that I an not one of his "Disgruntled " employees, only a customer that received no service for a paid contract. So there is no confusion due to the screen name, my name is Michael Cottrell.

Unprofessional and Inefficient

We hired 2 Young Studs to help us move and pack our belongings into a POD for a cross-country move. Despite a smooth scheduling process, the actual moving process was a nightmare. Our situation resulted in damaged walls, careless handling, and insufficient packing. We would’ve been better off moving everything ourselves and saving the money.

Before the guys left, they tried to get us to hire them through their side hustle for the rest of our stuff. It then made sense why they left so much of our stuff unloaded to try and make a second sale.

We ended up hiring additional movers from a different company to completely unload and reload our POD. Turns out, it was possible to fit everything and in a much more secure fashion. It's extremely disappointing when a “high rated” service falls short of expectations, and there is a clear lack of thoroughness and professionalism within the company.

What a disaster

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Talk about an unprofessional and rude crew. In the few hours this crew was at my apartment I lost count the number of times the F bomb was dropped. I had a $400 entertainment center dropped/rolled down the stairs and brought to the truck in about 8 pieces.

Then this stellar crew whips out a piece of paper and demand that I sign it or they are leaving, the paper was a form which said they don't have to move everything, they only pay .60 per pound for damage, etc etc etc. So under duress I signed it so I could get the truck loaded.

When I made the appointment I clearly explained that it was a 1 bedroom third floor walk up apartment and the move day was my last day on the lease and I had to turn the keys in at 4pm. The crew was booked for 11:00am, showed up at 2:30pm, were there for two and half hour, needless to say I wasn't able to turn the keys in on time.

The two man crew complained from the moment we walked up the stairs until they left. So many boxes, so many stairs. One of guys spent almost as much time talking on his cell phone as he did moving stuff. They took a part a bed frame that will never go back together, some of the slats are bent. We had a group of 6 boxes or so that we pointed out to them that we will move those ourselves. Guess what they moved them and the stuff got broken.

I am 64 years old and ended up having to load the truck for them or my 2 hour move would have taken 6 hours and probable would have been told that everything wouldn't fit.

Over the years I have moved 10 to 12 times this by far was the worst experience. I have never felt I needed additional insurance in the past and have not regretted that, but I sure wish I had gotten insurance this time.

When I called the owner on Monday and tried to calmly explain the poor performance of his crew I was cut off not listen too ended up having to shout over him just to get a word in, before he hung up. He said more than once this was his best crew, Ivy League Honor students. He does not give refunds for any reason. I paid 525 for two guys to load a truck I rented, had at least 700 in damaged stuff, and had to work for three hours loading the truck I paid them to load.

Scam

Chris Monks (the owner) will take advantage of you. He will have his movers take your belongings and demand a cash payout for the drop or he "will call off his guys" with your belongings. Then he will berate you and hang up on you. Read other experiences on BBB and Yelp.

Clark Street is not the business address and he was court-ordered to update it to 44 Meadow View, but has not.

Ex employee

Honestly worst guy ever

Bad attitude , very rude will cut you off while your talking.

Only cares about his reviews and favorite line “ I been in the business for 20 years “

Doesn’t believe in equipment usage and then fires me because I apparently “complained” because customer asked me for Dollie’s and I asked him for him to start yelling at me and then starts yelling at the customer.

Workers make the job good, owner doesn’t , never even seen him in person and I had to wait a whole extra week and a half to get my first check because apparently he didn’t have enough money to cover it. If you don’t have enough money to cover checks ur in the wrong business.

Have plenty of text messages and proof that he’s a POS, and only friendly when he needs workers or a job done or taking people’s money.

I was working for Chris for about 4 days before he told me he isn’t using me anymore and made his words seem like a good job to work at, I left my full time job to work with him to leaving next week with no money, such a asshole. The last 2 times I worked for Chris , me and 1 guy , ( guy was really lazy) I felt I did all the moving and he wanted to do the light stuff. We started a 3rd job at 8pm and lady was already pissed off ( most likely because of Chris ) and I worked with her and she loved how I worked, didn’t say much about the other guy. Had to move lady with 1 guy up 3 flights of stairs everything was walked up. Chris would text me every 30 minutes to an hour asking if I’m done.

2nd time was a racist lady in Madison, I had a bad headache and was working as much as I can in the pouring rain and all the lady did was complain complain complain, never had an attitude with her I just kept bringing stuff inside the house and go back and forth, had to do 2 trips in the pouring rain , job took 4 hours to do no breaks, was soaking wet and after all that was only tipped 25 dollars. Chris then tells me that the lady was saying I had a bad attitude and the other guy was lazy, which he wasn’t , we was working as a train to keep everything flowing and after that day I already knew this wasn’t the job for me. I even had to bring my personal dollie with me to work to get that job done. I worked in a PROFESSIONAL Moving company as a supervisor for 5 years and I never heard an owner said “ you don’t need equipment to do a move “. It’s called working smarter not harder. I hope the workers that were there before me left and show him how attitude and professionalism can go a long way. I don’t need to lie about any of this. I would honestly post the pictures how he talks and treats his workers but I don’t need to expose him , this post already does. Chris I hope in the next life you’re a better person but you’re a scam. And a piece of shit person and I hope there’s a special place down below the earth for you. I’m a professional mover for 5+ years as a supervisor and besides that 1 racist customer everyone else loved my work and didn’t complain, they all complained about you though. 1 star and I would’ve left a 0 if I can . Hope your attitude and ego changes before you go bankrupt

Also his address is now 483 Washington ave New Haven, there is box trucks and 1 truck facing the street with the logo on top of the truck

Do not ever use this company

WOW! The most unbelievable, unprofessional experience I have ever dealt with in my life. First, movers show up 45 minutes late. Three kids all around 20 years old, no problem. They start out at a good pace, but slow down and say they can't fit all of my belongings in the truck and will have to make two trips. We go to my new apartment, all three movers are on their phone right away, no moving happening at all. They are swearing, dropping F bombs and the N word all over the place, stating they are about to quit, making references to shooting that N word, very abrasive and unsatisfying behavior in front of my new neighbors. My wife asks the movers to stop swearing, and this is when things start to get wild!

The movers start filming my wife calling her a liar and a racist. She calls the owner of 2 young studs, Christopher Monks, and he apologizes, states he is firing all 3 movers, states they were involved in a hit and run causing damage to an awning at a previous job, and asked up to get the keys to the truck from them since it had all of our belongings inside, and for us to call 911 if they don't leave. I confirm this on the phone with Chris as well. I get the key from the movers, the police come and escort them off the property, and Chris says he is coming to our property from New Haven, about 30 minutes away. I leave to grab a quick lunch for my wife and I, and Chris shows up at the property. He proceeds to go into my apartment and verbally abuses my wife, backing her into a corner and screaming that we told him a different story than we told the cops. He then tells my wife to figure it out and leaves. All of our stuff is still in the truck and everyone is gone. My wife calls the police again based on Chris's actions toward her. I arrive when the police do again, and my wife is very upset, Chris tries to spin everything on her being racist, which he continues to do online days later, so she leaves to calm everything down.

Chris's solution is to have the same movers, who he had us call 911 on and said was involved in a hit and run, the same movers who wanted to quit, they were the ones to come back and do the job. We pre-paid $800 weeks before. Chris said on the phone he would refund us, as soon as the police left, he told the movers to stop moving, and came up to me extremely mad saying I owe him more money for how long this has took. Mind you we still have items at our original place because his movers were unable to fit them in his small truck. He threatens to leave with my stuff, then threatens to dump it out on the sidewalk if I ask for any sort of refund. I allow the movers to finish the job, they damaged my walls and doorways whilst moving my property. The next morning, after my wife wrote a bad review, Chris called me stating I need to take down the review, otherwise the three movers would get their revenge. His exact quote, recorded and provided to the police, "I promise, they know where you live and what car you drive, they will get their revenge."

We blocked his number, he continued to contact my wife through alternate numbers. We are now fearful of our own safety, the security of our valuables, and had to finish the job on our own with no financial compensation. Instead, he makes claims online that my wife is racist and mentally unstable.

Unbelievable

Horrible, unprofessional and rude owner

I would give zero Stars if I could. I called this company right after I rented a 10x17 storage unit. My uncle had just died and I needed to move his stuff. I paid $390 down and asked for a three-man crew but was told he only sent two men for a two-bedroom apartment. I told him I had one bedroom set, a living room set, a dining room set with a hutch, a den, a small kitchen table and chairs and about 35 to 45 boxes. My move was set up for 12 with a 2-hour window. The two guys, Eric and the other cranky guy that came with him showed up around 3:30. It took them approximately 4 hours to load half of the stuff onto the truck and said they couldn't fit anymore so we went to the storage. It took them another hour to get everything off of the truck and I was told I would probably need another storage unit as everything would not fit. They went back to the apartment and loaded everything back in around 11:00 p.m. they were done. When we got back to the storage, the unit was closed. It took them several tries to get the boss on the phone and he stated they would have to return all of my stuff back to Connecticut and he would return it the next day. I had no choice since the storage unit was closed. I spoke to the manager, Chris, myself and asked if it usually took this long since several years ago I had had a three bedroom apartment moved and it only took 4 hours for the whole thing. He became pretty incensed and asked how many men. When I told him only two men moved a three-bedroom apartment in 4 hours he asked me didn't I think things had changed since 2014 and I said no, why would it? Two guys show up with a truck, why would things get slower over the years instead of faster? He said if I didn't like it I could use another f***ing next time. I said okay, that is what reviews are for. He then swore at me and told me that I could find some other moving company to come and get my stuff he wasn't going to return my property and hung up. He then tried to run my debit card for $1,010. Since he never asked me or told me how much he was going to be charging, the money was not in the account because I transfer it once I'm told how much something is going to cost. I told him the job wasn't done and he told me that was what he was charging me for that day. I really believe he planned to hold my furniture hostage and charge me more money to get it back. I told him I was going to get an attorney. He started sending harassing texts like I had no right to ask questions and made it seem like I picked up some guys off the street to help move, not a company that was being paid. I called him the next morning and he told me he was only able to get $25 off of my card and that's all I had paid. I reminded him I had initially paid $390 which I had proof of. I was accused of not telling him the truth about how much stuff I had when I absolutely told him the size of the storage unit and what items I had. I also mentioned that I had a lawyer and had been given instruction on how to deal with him. He then told me this had been all a huge misunderstanding and he would send another crew with my stuff back and give me 20% off. I paid another $790. The second crew showed up and were much more professional and experienced as opposed to the first Crew he sent the day before. They actually had everything left off of the truck, repacked my storage unit and had everything fit from the day before and the items they bought back that day in less than 2 hours. I feel if they had come the day before, the job would have been done properly and in a less amount of time than the total of almost 11 hours it took to move a two-bedroom apartment. I ended up paying $1205. I have included texts he sent to me showing what an unprofessional and rude person he turned out to be. I have a big out-of-state move coming and I will never use a small unknown company like this. I will go back to the professional people that moved me years previously. What a scam this guy tried to pull!
